THE MICROSOFT UEFI CONSPIRACY &
STUPIDITY
What a surprise! when I installed a new version of Kubuntu (Linux)
on one of the partitions of one of my disk drives. I discovered that
a UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) 100 megabytes hidden
FAT32 partition with some Microsoft non-open source
undocumented software on it. This is unacceptable!
I removed the partition and the Microsoft spying software. With
no undesirable effects, except for the fact that my computer is more
secure now. I have been using the Lilo and Grub boot loaders for
many years, enabling me to boot multiple Linux OSs (Kubuntu, Mint,
SuSE) on different partitions and different disk drives. I have no
need for EFI or UEFI.
It has already been proven, that UEFI makes it easier to install a
rootkit. In fact, even if you have not booted the OS, the Microsoft
UEFI software allows a remote computer (through the internet) to
upload and download data to and from your computer.
For those who are not Computer Scientist or Computer Engineers, I
will explain it in simple terms. A remote computer, from Microsoft
headquarters, or from Russia, China, or anywhere else, has the
ability (using the UEFI software) to extract any data from your
computer, even if you are not running your OS. Also, they
can install any program (application or daemon) on your OS, without
asking for the root (administrator) password. And, depending on the
motherboard & features that your computer have, they can turn
your computer ON if it is off, do their malicious deeds and turn the
computer OFF when they are done.
Anyone who stores secret or classified information on a computer,
running the Windows OS & UEFI support, and has Wi-Fi or is
connected to the internet, has to be mentally deficient (or
a misinformed idiot).
Computers with important (or secret) data, should be running a
secured Unix or a secured Linux OS.
