*** ABOUT WAR ***
WAR !, that necessary evil, that
sometimes is not necessary, and sometimes can not be
avoided.
Inside wars, the "good" warriors get a chance to do heroic
things, like saving the lives of some of their friends, or
saving the lives of innocent civilians. However, there are
always war criminals, on both sides, who will see war as an
opportunity to get away with rape, profiteering, unnecessary
torture, and unnecessary killings of innocent civilians.
Wars can advance our medical technology. Doctors gain
experience in treating serious injuries. And progress is
made in artificial limbs and other things needed by wounded
warriors. It's sad to see wounded warriors, but it's a
reminder that freedom is not free. Perhaps someday machines
will do must of the fighting for us. But then we will loose
one of the benefits of war: Population reduction.
It might sound cruel to say that "population reduction" is a
benefit of war. However, if there had been no wars in the
19th and 20th centuries, the population of the world would
probably now be more than 10 billions. So metaphorically we
would have been in "deep shit".
Wars can also be considered "big business". An opportunity,
for the Military Industrial Complex (MIC) to test the latest
weapons and war machines. And an opportunity to increase the
sales of such weapons. Oil and Chemical companies, that are
part of the MIC, also increase their sales (and profits) by
billions of dollars per year, during wars.
Civil wars can be really bad, because we might have to fight
against some friends, relatives, or neighbors. The bloodiest
war fought in the U.S.A was the civil war.
